Rowena Smuts is an experienced Garden Designer and Landscaper based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. She designs, installs and maintains commercial and private residential gardens throughout Cape Town and the Cape Winelands, carrying out all phases of the garden installation process, from design to completion. Her expertise also includes seasonal garden maintenance and gardener training thereafter.
Garden Landscaping Services
Design
Establishing structure within the garden. Providing design drawings to illustrate planting. Maximising the potential of the garden.
Installation
Creating planted areas, selecting and sourcing plants, compost, mulch and labour. Sourcing subcontractors where necessary.
Maintenance
Pruning, clearing, moving plants and enhancing functionality and aesthetics of the garden.
Training
Upskilling gardeners in pruning, propagation, food gardens, compost heaps, maintenance & pest management.
The Process
Rowena offers a variety of landscaping services to suit her clients needs – from once-off visits and planting advice to the creation of beautiful new gardens from start to finish. Rowena is involved in all projects from the initial consultation and garden design to managing sub-contractors, gardener training and the final handover. Her bespoke garden designs and cost estimates are based on each client’s lifestyle, aspirations, budget and the garden or site characteristics.

Site Visit
Meet the client to discuss the project brief and assess their aspirations and ideas. for their garden.

Garden Design
Establish whether a garden design is required and provide a quote for drafting a detailed plan.

Plant Selection
Provide planting ideas including selection of species, share photos and ‘look book’ if required.

Finalise Plans + Budget
Agree on design and species composition and provide overall cost estimate for the garden installation.

Installation
Site clearing and preparation for hard and soft landscaping. Installation of irrigation system if required.

Maintenance
Provide advice, gardener training or ongoing maintenance support, where required by client.
